4 Tips to Hold Yourself Accountable When Working Remotely
1. Plan ⏩ Establish a plan you can realistically accomplish during a workday. Do this ahead of time, so you start the day knowing what you want to achieve.
2. Timers ⏩ Timers can be a useful way to keep you on track and focused on what priorities you need to accomplish each day. Timers are also useful for reminding you to get up and get away from your desk. Get outside, walk around the block, stretch, grab some water, and come back to your work environment renewed. Nobody should be working eight hours straight without a few built-in breaks for moving around, fresh air, and nourishment.
3. Accountability Partner ⏩ Schedule daily meetings with a coworker to go over wins, losses, and everything in between. This will keep you connected with another employee though you are at home and will hold you accountable to your daily goals.
4. Review, Reflect, Plan ⏩ At the end of your work day, take 15-20 minutes to review what worked well and what can use some reworking. Plan your next day out fully, include your scheduled breaks, lunch, and anything else. This will set you up for success and help hold you accountable to your goals.
